Scope of Work

  • The duties of the Strategic Communications & Marketing Manager will include but not be limited to the following:
  • Write, edit, and distribute content, including publications, email blasts, blogs, press releases, annual reports, speeches, and other identity material that communicates the organization’s mission, history, activities and outlook.
  • Create and manage monthly content calendars with appealing content, images and videos for all social media.
  • Design promotional materials in various mediums or work with vendors to create needed items outlets.
  • Promote the brand of Southwest Indiana through strategic marketing and partnerships.
  • Script, shoot, produce and edit video content for video blog The Real Southwest Indiana – Our Stories, Our Way.
  • Track key data and compile performance reports for various marketing campaigns across channels.
  • Organize and direct market research.
  • Serve as a Brand Director and provide strategic input for ‘E is for Everyone’ community branding initiative.
  • Plan and execute advertising connected with the Korn Ferry Tour Championship presented by United Leasing & Finance and event planning with ProAm team.
  • Attend Board and Executive Committee meetings, as well as any other community (public and private) and committee meetings as necessary and dictated by the position.
  • Travel as needed to assist with marketing opportunities for Southwest Indiana; and, as needed to represent Southwest Indiana at regional/national community development events.
  • Carry-out other duties at the direction of the President & CEO, team and/or the Coalition Board of Directors.

Key Qualifications and Personal Attributes

  • Positive attitude.
  • Quick learner and able to self-manage.
  • Creative, out-of-the-box thinker with knowledge on marketing best practices and design capabilities.
  • 2+ years of Adobe Creative Suite programs including InDesign, Photoshop and Premiere Pro.
  • 2+ years of WordPress experience (content management).
  • Strong writing, spelling and grammar skills.
  • Understanding of how to use social media platforms; including but not limited to YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and LinkedIN and how to tell multimedia stories.  Experience scripting, shooting and editing photos and video.
  • Can work within a team, but not need the team to drive productivity.
  • Knowledge of analytics and ability to report findings.
  • Must execute with the highest attention to detail.
  • Able to meet deadlines on or before schedule.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality.
  • Able to take direction and redirection in a positive manner.
  • Committed to striving for continuous improvement.
  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in marketing, business and/or mass communications.

About the Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana

The Economic Development Coalition of Southwest Indiana acts as the marketing arm and regional economic development organization for Gibson, Posey, Vanderburgh, and Warrick Counties in Southwest Indiana. The Coalition works with its local county economic development organizational partners to facilitate attraction activities and supports efforts to enhance the business climate through regional capacity building. Since its formation in late 2006, the Coalition has helped to secure over $3.28 billion in new investment and 4,213 new jobs from existing and new companies such as Haier America, Berry Global, Mead Johnson, Toyota Boshoku, Midwest Fertilizer Corporation and AT&T.

Another important aspect of the Coalition’s multi-faceted job description is helping the communities it serves build new capacity for future development. The Coalition has helped secure over $118 million in grants for such things as expansion of water and sewer systems; building new community centers; and, making improvements to the region’s levee system, which protects thousands of acres.
